Stop the Pell Grant cap at 12 semesters maximum for the people already in school who can show good progress.

The Department of Education decided to cap the Federal Pell Grant to a maximum of 6 semesters for new and continuing students effective Fall 2012. This affects those people who came back to school, those whose health might pose a problem with how fast they get through school, those with especial catastrophic family issues who had to withdraw and then came back, mostly people who worked and decided to get back to school. These new Pell Grant rules are not the rules we signed up for when we decided to get a college degree. It is disingenuous for them to change the rules in the middle of the game. This approach will make it impossible for many of us to finish college, and will make it extremely difficult to pay back the student loan without being able to finish the degree we sought.
