We would like to stop the petition to allow peaceful succession of the state of Louisiana. Since 2012 is the new 1861, the United States government should use whatever means necessary to counter stupidity. While they now hang their U.S. flags half mass and wear black, they will soon leave their homes and head to the hills if you do not respond to their petition. If an insurrection should ensue, you will probably find them at Port Hudson, Louisiana. They will be resupplying the garrisons and firing up the cannons. Instead of being garbed in confederate blue, they will be wearing republican red. Quoting vampire hunter extraordinaire, a house divided against itself cannot stand.
