Stop Pharmaceutical Drug Companies from Bombarding American Consumers with Drug Commercials.

Created by V.T. on December 18, 2012

The pharmaceutical drug industry should be forced to stop bombarding the American public with commercials to buy their prescription products. The ads are better suited for doctors, who are the only professionals who can prescribe the medicine in the first place. Despite First Amendment concerns, time, place, and manner curbs are warranted.

Not only does this appeal to the consumer appear to be unethical, but it cultivates a culture of "sickness" that continues to debilitate the American mental and healthcare system. The industry is literally acting as a "drug pusher," putting pressure on consumers to harangue their doctors, who must take valuable time to explain why the medicines are not likely needed.

The pharmaceutical industry should create a cable channel advertising to doctors.
