Our elected representatives are more concerned with doing what is necessary to ensure re-election than with doing what is necessary to ensure the financial security of our country. We cannot continue to allow financial decisions to be made at the last minute.
Also, we cannot force the wealthy to pay for the entirety of our debt, a debt which throughout its creation has benefited all economic classes. Raising taxes on the middle class is an unpopular sentiment, but if it will allow our nation to get out of debt it is a sacrifice that must be made.
We do not elect you to be our friends. We elect you to do what is best for the country, even if it is not the most enjoyable thing. It has been far too long since our representatives have done their jobs. Get to work!!!
