Stop police slaughter of family dogs

The militarization of local police in America continues apace. As a side effect there is now an epidemic of police killing dogs. This happens frequently when police are executing search warrants in drug investigations, where no drugs are recovered or arrests are made, sometimes on erroneous or false information or at the wrong address, but it also happens in other unjustifiable situations. Typically, the SWAT Team bursts in, the dog reacts, and then it gets shot. The dogs do nothing wrong but in the name of officer safety police are trained to treat them as a threat to be "neutralized." Frequently these dogs are beloved family companion animals. We ask the President to cause a national commission to be impaneled to study, report, and make recommendations, to end this needless slaughter.
