In 1999, the Western Pacific Garbage Patch had six times the plastic as plankton. In 2008, that number had jumped to 46 times. Of 80 million single serving plastic bottles used daily, 30 million end up in landfills. The average world recycling of beverage containers is 50%. But the U.S is 20%.
We feel that if industries cut down the making of plastic water bottles, that would make the number of water bottles ending up in the ocean go down drastically. Last year, 38 billion water bottles were made. For every six water bottles we use, only one makes it into the recycling bin. That means 6,333,333,333 don't make it.
Regulate the number of water bottles made by bottling companies each year, and save our home!!
