stop the practice of attaching secrecy orders to requests for individuals' information being stored in the "cloud."

Created by C.B. on April 14, 2016

This petition requests that the Executive branch cease and desist from the use of "gag" orders against technology and other companies when requesting access to consumers' digital information being stored in private, corporate computers servers. It further petitions the Executive branch to have the matter decided in the Supreme Court as soon as is feasible.

While it may be reasonable for the Federal government to gain a warrant in order to access such files, this process should be no different from existing processes for pursuing material evidence in the case of an alleged criminal act.

Attaching secrecy orders to these requests for access violates the First and Fourth Amendments and should not continue until the matter is decided by the Supreme Court.
