During this still difficult economic time, some of us have been unemployed for a period of time, spent all of our savings, started our own business (and closed it) dipped into retirement funds, and have become behind on payments to those we owe, causing issues on our credit reports. Now, that some job opportunities are FINALLY becoming available, I get eliminated due to a less than perfect credit report. This is as discriminatory as race, creed, color, sexual orientation, and any other pre-meditated form of eliminating job candidates. Credit issues are no indication of job performance, nor does it provide any company with any evidence of illegal behavior. This has allowed some companies find a new form of discrimination! EMPLOYMENT history, and CRIMINAL history, fine. But FINANCIAL CREDIT?
