Stop printing $1 bills and replace them with coins.

Created by M.H. on April 22, 2013

This petition encourages the adoption of $1 coins rather than bills. In 2012, the Government Accountability Office found that $150,000,000 can be saved every year or upwards of $5.6 billion over the next 30 years. Coins are far more economical.

A coin can last 35 years or longer whereas each $1 bill is replaced every 2 to 4 years. Each $1 bill costs $0.07 to produce and leads to nearly 7 million pounds of landfill waste.

In an age where the government is searching for places to save money, this is change should be obvious. In fact, there are already billions of $1 coins produced and sitting in storage in the US mint!

I'd urge you to sign the petition and spread the word.
