-The whole point of US currency is to facilitate to purchasing of goods & services. At this, the Penny, Nickel, & Dime have failed & have simply become a burden on the US economy. The value of the Dime is currently as low as the Half Cent was in 1857 when it was decided to be too worthless to continue minting. These coins cost the people tens to hundreds of millions of dollars to print and transport across the US.
-We also currently have over a billion $1 coins sitting in storage, that's $3 per person in the US. These coins have a estimated lifespan of ~30 years, while the average lifespan of a $1 & $2 bill is only 18 months. We could save millions of dollars every year by no longer printing & transporting these bills, as well as limit the production of $1 coins to only Sacagawea coins.
