Arguments for keeping the penny:
1) It's shiny and copper(ish).
2) It has Abe Lincoln's head on it. We love Abe Lincoln.
3) What about .01, .02, etc. cents? People will want their money.
Arguments for ditching the penny:
1) It costs more to produce than it is worth.
2) The U.S. military does not use pennies on its international bases because the cost of shipping them is not worth the cost of having them.
3) Abe Lincoln's head is on the five dollar bill.
4) We can take pennies away gradually, by stopping production and rounding uneven change. We'll win some as much as we lose some.
5) No more fiddling with small change.
And many more. But there's a character limit to these petitions. So let's lift at least one financial strain by getting rid of the supremely useless penny.
