"Feel good" policies only look like you're doing something.
Example: All "gun free zone" means is "good target" or "victim disarmament zone".
We banned "assault weapons" with no effect. Why repeat failure? "Insanity is repeating the same mistakes and expecting different results."
The focus is on "gun violence" because there's no evidence that gun control improves rates of total violence or violent death (homicide & suicide).
The main effect of gun control is to disarm the victim. It is a truism that "when seconds count, the police are only minutes away".
Do things that might actually make things better. Nationwide CCW permits might be a good step.
