Stop prosecuting whistleblowers and start protecting them.

Created by E.S. on September 23, 2011

As a candidate, President Obama said that "government whistleblowers are part of a healthy democracy and must be protected from reprisal."

However, his administration has used the Espionage Act more than all other Presidents combined to go after whistleblowers.

This has included both Thomas Drake, who exposed massive illegal surveillance of American citizens by the NSA and PFC Bradley Manning who has been held in brutal and inhumane conditions for exposing illegal actions by the US military.

Along with the above, this administration has expanded the use of "state secrecy" to prevent lawsuits alleging human rights violations and torture. Obama must end the war on those citizens trying to hold it accountable for its actions and expose its excesses as part of a "healthy democracy."
