STOP protecting Navient (Sallie Mae) under the Bankruptcy Laws of the United States. While under the Government’s protection Navient will NOT negotiate in any way with borrowers who have private loans and need reduced payments or to extend payment options. As it stands now the only option is to file an adversary proceeding in Bankruptcy Court and pass the current Brunner Test. From everything I have read including actual cases on this test it is almost impossible to pass. Even some of the cases where the borrower is homeless, the debts are not being discharged. Navient has all the power because they are protected by our Government. There is no limit to what ends that they can go to so that the payment on the debt is reached.
