STOP PROVIDING CHILD SOLDIER BAN WAIVERS FOR COUNTRIES WITHOUT PLANS AND PROGRESS TOWARDS ENDING USE OF CHILD SOLDIERS.

Created by D.S. on February 18, 2013

Congress passed the Child Soldier Prevention Act (CSPA) in 2008. CSPA prevents the United States from providing military funding to countries using child soldiers; however, President Obama has issued multiple memorandums allowing military aid to specific countries using child soldiers. Initially, some of these countries were required to have action plans and demonstrated progress towards ending their use of child soldiers; however, national security has been the sole reason stated in the most recent memorandums. Search whitehouse.gov for "Child Soldiers" to view memorandums issued on this topic and sign this petition to stop US military funding to countries using child soldiers. National security is not an excuse to fund armies with child soldiers.
