Each time the minimum wage is increased, the facade continues. Minimum wage workers feel like they are getting a better deal; UNTIL THE COST OF LIVING GOES UP and they suddenly realize they aren't any better off than before. Those who aren't minimum wage workers and do not receive cost of living increases become more and more financially devastated. When I made a minimum wage of $2.35 an hour, I was able to rent a small house and pay my utilities. Now anyone making minimum wage couldn't rent any dwelling without a second income to supplement.
