Christopher Columbus should not be celebrated for founding America when there were Natives already here thousands of years before he arrived. Additionally, the treatment of the Natives simply to take their land and enslave them is nothing we should continue to honor. Now that history has shown the harsher realities of his discovery, Americans should choose to honor Native Americans and their contributions. Our government has the ability to make things right when the wrong things have been celebrated. The experiences of an entire people have been disregarded.
