Stop requiring the USPS to pre-fund future retiree health care benefits.

Created by C.S. on April 11, 2014

In the current system the USPS is required to pre-fund retiree healthcare benefits 75 years out. This means that they are being forced to set money aside for individuals not currently employed by the USPS and quite possibly not even born. They are the only US government agency required to do so and even private sector employers who achieve record profits rarely engage in such acts. At a time when the USPS is being forced to make drastic changes in order to stay solvent and competitive this truly is an unnecessary and unfair burden.
