The goal of the petition is to prevent retailers from opening their doors on Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving is about being with family and friends. For the past few years, retailers have steadily been pushing up their Black Friday deals to the point that the deals no longer happen on Friday; they are occurring on Thanksgiving Day! Now families looking to save money have to give up their time being with family and friends to shop and save money. There is no reason for this to happen. People will still show up to stores whether they open on 12:00 Friday morning or even later. Let's take back Thanksgiving!
