American wild horses are a symbol of freedom. In 1971 congress passed Public law 92-195 for the preservation and protection of wild horses and burros. The application of this law has resulted in a continuation of the inhumane practices that the law claimed to defy. Wild horses have disappeared from 40% of their habitat since this act was passed. The round up and stockpiling process is inhumane. Current BLM practices are costing the taxpayers. 70% of the current budget is spent on round ups and stockpiling. Only 6% is spent on fertility control and keeping horses on the range. Reform BLM policies. Force them to consult with outside experts as defined by section 3.b.1. This will reduce costs to the taxpayer, save unnecessary slaughter and preserve this national treasure in a humane way.
