Stop routine antibiotic use in agriculture and keep antibiotic effectiveness for human diseases

Created by D.M. on December 29, 2013

Up to 80% of antibiotic use in this country goes to animals who are not ill. Antibiotics are used to increase the weight of animals and not their health. This widespread use of antibiotics increases the development of resistant bacteria and has caused human disease. 23,000 Americans die annually from untreatable infections and more will die if we continue this wanton use of antibiotics. End the use of antibiotics as growth promoters and restrict their use to treatment of sick animals and ultimately people.
