The US according to the 1994 Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances guaranteed to Ukraine in exchange for latter's nuclear disarmament the following:
- to respect Ukrainian independence and sovereignty within her borders;
- to protect Ukraine from outer aggression and not to conduct aggression toward Ukraine;
- not to put economic pressure on Ukraine in order to influence her politics;
- not to use nuclear arms against Ukraine.
Now, when Russia is occupying the Crimean peninsula (which is a part of Ukraine) and, in fact, breaching the terms of the above Memorandum, the US should follow its obligations under the Memorandum.
Therefore, we, the Ukrainian people, kindly ask you Mr. President to respect the terms of the 1994 Budapest Memorandum on Security Assurances and to stop Russia
