Stop the Sale of Neonicotinoids--Save the Pollinators!

Created by J.F. on December 01, 2016

Neonicotinoids are a very deadly class of pesticides that are highly toxic to pollinators. Scientists have recently linked them to monarch butterfly declines, but more importantly, they have caused a major drop in the bee population, esp. feral bees, a critical link in US Agriculture. They cause Colony Collapse Disorder, which is when most of the worker bees abandon their hives in the winter and die. The rest of the colony cannot survive without them. By killing our biggest pollinators, we’re killing our crops. We need bees to pollinate 71 of the 100 crops that are 90% of the world’s food. 37 million bees died in just one month. If this keeps going on, pretty soon bees will go extinct. And so will our food. And imagine, if this pesticide is killing our bees, what could it be doing to us?
