Shootings like Columbine and the recent Newtown school shooting have left people looking for a scapegoat, something to blame. In recent years this has been media such as video games, like the blaming of Doom and Marilyn Manson for the horrific shootings at Columbine High School, and the scapegoating of games like Mass Effect for the Newtown shooting. This scapegoating CLEARLY must end, and instead we should be looking into the psyche of these shooters. Obviously these people are disturbed, and thus they, not the media, are the perpetrator of their own crimes. Thus, We believe that the scapegoating of media for violent killings and other crimes should be discouraged if not banned.
