Stop selling and distributing assault weapons to the American public on a federal level

Many have died to allow some states to allow there people to carry assault weapons. It took dozens of school shootings, mass murders, a assassination attempt on a congress women, and a mass theater shooting to get our attention. But when a school filled with children are mowed down because of assault weapons it really says a lot about our nation, which is that we fail to listen. Assault weapons are not used for hunting or home defense they are used for killing many people in a short amount of time. Why are civilians allowed to buy them? There is no logical explanation. The second admendent is no excuse because I'm sure if the founding fathers witnessed the power of an M4A1 he would have a hard attack. People may kill people but the type of weapon certainly helps.
