Stop sending President Obama to events in downtown DC during rush hour.

Created by S.C. on February 20, 2014

Barring exceptional circumstances, President Obama should not make appearances in the District of Columbia during rush hour. When he does, it ties up traffic, affects the commutes of thousands of local residents, and costs DC taxpayers and local businesses money. For example, his 2/20 appearance at the Democratic Governor's Association dinner at 5:35 p.m. at the St. Regis hotel tied up traffic downtown for hours and tripled my commute time--leaving me scrambling to find emergency child care. That is just one example of a frequent problem, exacerbated by the fact that road closures are poorly disclosed. DC residents are already disenfranchised--no vote in Congress, no right to spend our own local tax dollars. The president should at least stay off our roads at rush hour.
