Stop atrocities like the shootings in Tucson, Aurora and Newton, by making mental health care more accessible and affordable. These senseless acts of violence are committed by troubled individuals with serious mental health issues. Insurance companies must mainstream mental health services, provide easier access, without limiting coverage or imposing expensive copays. The bureaucracy is so difficult to navigate, even professional care providers refuse to align with insurance companies that delay payments or utilize excessive processing requirements. Gun control will not stop the killing of innocent people; troubled individuals will cause harm by other means. When we find ways to identify and treat sicknesses by making resources available and affordable, the "senseless" violence will end.
