We the People did not create the budget deficit and as DOD employees, we should not bare the burden for the transgressions created by our elected officials! Imposing DOD wide furloughs not only causes severe financial hardships, increased stress levels and anxiety among the dedicated federal civilian workforce, it will also have long term consequences regarding morale, loyalty and devotion to service before self. Who cares about "our mission" when faced with the loss of 20% of our salary?
Our duly elected officials, who are themselves Federal Employees, should also bare the burden when it comes to loss of pay and benefits. They should not be above the law and should be furloughed with us and lose 20% of their "outrageous" pay and benefits.
