Legalizing recreational marijuana at a national level is greatly supported by the American citizens. Nearly 1/8th of our prison population is due to marijuana, as well as the cost of approximately one billion dollars a year to house marijuana offenders. By legalizing marijuana, it removes it from the streets, away from drug dealers who would sell it to kids, and eliminates a large portion of our non-violent criminals in our prisons. Also, the tax income created by marijuana would help to bring down our deficit, while at the same time it would bring many jobs, such as distribution and growth, to our country for those who are currently unemployed, and would allow for many new small businesses to excell. By the federal government not changing it's stance, it goes against the will of the ppl.
