Thousands of dogs are slayed, tortured, and eaten in honor of a festival that hs only been a "tradition" since 2009. While the consumption of dog meat may be acceptable in other cultures, it is is reprehensible for us Americans to sit by and tolerate the inhumane, abhorrent agony inflicted on these animals at the Yulin Festival in China. We, the people of the United States of America, cannot idly watch as innocent animals are raptured from their families and publicly maimed for the pleasure of sadists. We ask that our current administration take diplomatic measures to pressure China's government to stop this tragic practice. It is our goal to spread democracy throughout the globe, but democracy cannot exist in a country that violently violates the rights of the innocent.
