I think it's unfair how dolphins are being treated. They are being separated by their family so that they can be shown in dolphin shows where there's unnecessary tricks. It's a very violent process to capture and select the young dolphins to be trained in inhumane ways.There are only 55 Maui Dolphins left in the world. They were once found around the North Island, but are now only found on the west coast of the North Island. Gill nets are the single biggest threat to both Hector's and Maui's Dolphins. The population of Hector's Dolphins has declined by 75% over the last 40 years. In the 1970's there were between 21,000 and 29,000 Hector's Dolphins found around most of the coastline. Both the Hector's and Maui's dolphins are listed on the IUCN's list of threatened species.
