The Soc. Sec. Admin. started effectively in August 1996 to require Rep. Payees to get dedicated accounts at a financial institution for children under 18 (that is approved or receive SSI) to receive back pay funds.
From complaints from other online commenters majority of them were parents or legal guardians of these children who were approved for SSI like me. These Rep. Payees were furious at the fact that they have to get permission for how to spend the money on these kids. If you look at it it's really a monthly payment that you didn't receive those past months since you applied. I felt like a little kid when I was told I have to get permission.
It should have the same rights that you get for their reoccurring monthly payments and not to keep tab on everything you spend it on for the kid
