We the people ask the federal government to Change an existing Administration policy:

STOP the Social Security Administration from Requiring a Cellphone to Use Online Services.

STOP THIS HARDSHIP ON SENIORS
People seeking to manage their federal Social Security benefits online can no longer do so unless they provide a cellphone number so they can receive an access code by text each time they log on.*

Seniors, receiving Social Security benefits, frequently need to access their online SS accounts. According to 2015 data from the Pew Research Center, 22% of people 65 and older do not have a cellphone.* And of those who do own a cellphone, many do not text. Text plans are an added expense. Texting is difficult for seniors with arthritic fingers and poor eyesight. Plus texting while online adds complexity, time pressure, or is simply confusing for many seniors.
