We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Stop soldier suicide and improve behavioral health treatment for active duty and retired military.

Created by D.S. on July 04, 2016

Licensed Professional Counselors, Licensed Mental Health Counselors and Marriage Family Therapists are JACHO Licensed Independent Practicitioner yet absent from military regulations for the treatment of active duty and retired military personnel. For decades only psychologists and social workers are allowed privileges. There has been minimal improvement in military behavioral treatment. Congress needs to include these providers to close the gap in treatment. DoD funded a study showing LPCs, LMHCs, and MFTs to be qualified and effective in treatment. Treatment needs to be the primary focus not testing (psychologists) and resourcing (social workers). LPCs, LMHCs, and MFTs are 90% treatment focused with higher treatment efficacy. It I s time to give our military all the treatment available.
