People with land lines receive unwanted spam phone calls or robocalls nearly ever day, sometimes more than once per day. These calls are starting to appear more often on cell phones too.
The FTC and FCC have mechanisms in place under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act to end these practices yet nearly anyone with a phone can tell you that these efforts are not working, presumably because the enforcement of this law is under resourced and under funded.
