Stop state governments from incriminating gun owners by introducing new firearm limitations which prove ineffective.

This petition's purpose is to preserve the spirit of the second amendment. In California a vast number of legal guns are being threatened resulting in the excessive reduction of legal gun owners' capacity for violence. While this may seem like a positive thing, we, as Americans, must remember why the second amendment was written - and that is to ensure that no free American is to ever be stripped of their definite source of influence over their own government. Without the vast wealth of firearms in the hands of a public there is nothing to stop the government from abusing it's citizens. The US government gains it's authority from the people, but the people give away all of their power when they agree to disarmament.
