stop subsidizing crops that are turned into junk food additives

Created by R.V. on February 27, 2013

The federal government has spent billions of dollars on subsidies to crops, such as corn, that are turned into corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup. They have spent significantly less on other fresh fruit and vegetable crops. This makes junk food inexpensive and easier to come by than healthy foods. With junk food more attainable than healthy food it is no wonder there has been a rise in health problems such as obesity and diabetes. The federal government should cut these "junk food" subsidies and spend more on crops that keep Americans healthy so everyone can afford to make better food choices.
