Stop taking away Social Security Money from Grieving Widows and Widowers

Created by B.L. on March 03, 2013

Social Security is money that's been paid by the contributor "unlike" grants, welfare, etc. Did you know since the 30s the Gov't demands when someone dies, their benefits are considered null/void the month they die regardless of the date? Their widow/widower receives survivor benefits but what about the last month alive of the contributor's life? For ex, if you die 12/31, the entire month of Dec is null/void & they'll take it back! Shame! My father passed 12/31,his Dec income was pulled 1/3! The money should be pro-rated! Did you know the Gov't keeps that money? I know because this just happened to my 86 yr old grieving mother. The Gov't made her bank REMOVE FUNDS from her account! Doesn't it only make sense to prorate it and not void it? It should NOT be voided! Stand up for what's right!
