Stop tar sands oil drilling

Created by L.S. on December 26, 2013

As a part of the Sierra club, we support a clean environment for all. The only way that major companies can produce tar sand oil is by deforesting and digging up of thousands of pine forests. TransCanada proposed a pipeline called Keystone XL. It would be the third new dedicated tar sands pipeline, and would lock the United States into a dependence on hard-to-extract oil (www.nrdc.com). Tar sands industries destroys enormous amounts of important ecosystems, produces a lot of toxic wastes, releases global warming pollutants, and negatively impacts wildlife. We believe that the expansion of tar sands industries should be restricted and, instead, the country should move toward a cleaner source of oil. We would implement oil saving plans by reducing oil consumption, by using hybrids.
