Most people don’t realize that the Majority and Minority Leaders in both houses (4 in all) get extra offices, supplies, and FEDERAL staff simply because they are their parties’ leaders in the House or Senate.
This has been going on since 1965 with a two year break. Somehow Congress even passed legislation linking the salary in these Political Party positions to that of some Federal Judges.
Most members of Congress receive an annual salary of $174,000, "The 4" party leaders get $193,400 because they're a leader in the party. The cost to taxpayers doesn’t stop there. "The 4" get an EXTRA OFFICE for the position, a staff of FEDERAL employees, and other amenities.
Congressional political party caucuses occur in the Capitol at our expense. With all that money they can RENT the room.
