This is to petition that telephone number spoofing be made illegal in order to protect the individual's right to privacy and stop scammers and telemarketers who disregard the Do Not Call Registry which was put into place to stop unwanted and unsolicited phone calls.
The legalization of telephone number spoofing has taken away the purpose of the DNC registry and has made it impossible for the individual to submit valid information to the FCC when filing a complaint. Scammers and telemarketers do not follow or care about the law that is supposed to prevent them from contacting individuals who are registered on the DNC.
There is NO good reason why anyone whose intention is not to scam or harass an individual would need to spoof the number they are calling from.
