Start a food donation system for all the food that you make visitors throw away when visiting the Capitol.
During my visit last month to the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center for a film screening, our group of over 200 were made to throw away all our food, prepackaged or not, before we could enter the building. Since we had come from an all day training most of us had granola bars in our possession. So we collected them and set them near the trash bin in hopes that a homeless person may at least benefit from them. The security guard, who was not very nice, threw them in the trash and joked they could feed D.C. on the amount of food that gets thrown away.
So let's petition the Capitol to work with a local food bank and do daily collections of food from visitors to give to the less fortunate?
