Stop the tobacco smoker surcharge in the ACA, smokers are no more preexisting than the obese alcoholic or drug abuser

Created by P.S. on February 17, 2014

Stop the discrimination of one group of our population, cigarette smokers, Whether you agree with smoking or not is not the issue, Discrimination is the issue. Smokers should be allowed the same cost to their health care as any other American with a bad habit. No one group should be singled out to pay up to 50 percent more for health care when no other health related illness group is asked to pay extra. Alcoholics, very obese and morbidly obese, legal and illegal drug abusers are just as unhealthy and are ongoing preexisting conditions. Please don't allow one group to be priced out of the health care market with these discriminatory huge surcharges that could lead to their deaths from lack of care. Exempt all the states from this surcharge as they did Washington DC, CA and a few others.
