The Coalition to Ban Unsafe Oil Trains and 350NJ based in New Jersey call on the President to issue an emergency order to protect the drinking water of 800,000 Bergen and Hudson County, NJ residents from the special risk of trains carrying highly volatile Bakken crude oil derailing off the 86-year-old train bridge that spans the Oradell Reservoir. Federal railway inspectors have deemed the 25-foot bridge that CSX trains cross up to 30 times per week to be in need of extensive repairs which are not expected to be completed until year-end 2015. This timeline poses unacceptable risk. The trains should be stopped until the bridge is fully repaired and inspected and the safety of the bridge communicated to the public.
