My father was injured in a motorcycle accident in which he was wearing a D.O.T. approved helmet, not because he chose to but because as a resident of the state of Virginia he was forced to. The motorcycle flipped several times and landed on his head/face. He lived but as the equivalent of a 3 year old. Helmet laws are bad and I would rather die than live as an invalid.
THE BASIS FOR THE GOVERNMENT MAKING THE WEARING OF HELMETS MANDATORY IS OUT OF FEAR OF HAVING TO PAY FOR THE HEALTHCARE NEEDS OF INJURED RIDERS. I HAVE PERSONALLY SEEN THE LEVEL OF HEALTHCARE PROVIDED BY THE GOVERNMENT AFTER MY FATHER'S INSURANCE RAN OUT AND IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO MAKE A VALID ARGUEMENT.
