Congress is trying to stop federal funding of Title X Family planning services to only nonprofit Planned Parenthood clinics. This federal funding does not include money for abortions. The funding being cut provides STD tests, pregnancy tests, cancer screenings, pap smears, birth control, and education to the underprivileged. If cut, millions of people will not have affordable access to general healthcare. Targeting Planned Parenthood only is not justifiable. If they want to cut Title X funding, then that should be defunded, not only Planned Parenthood. It is a tactic to try to shut down any clinic that also provides abortion services. No federal monies is currently used for abortion services.
