On Dec. 17, a public prosecutor initiating a police investigation into the activities of dozens of people including the sons of three ministers in Erdoğan's government, including Interior Minister. Corruption scandal involved bribery, money laundering and so forth. On the very first day, Erdoğan laid the blame on the Turkish police for not informing the interior minister whose son had been taken into custody under that investigation. Since then, hundreds of police chiefs have been removed from their posts and reassigned to lower positions in an effort to send out a strong message to everyone about the government's resolve to fight this off and also obviously to disrupt any further investigation that might involve other misconduct by government officials or close associates of the AK Party.
