The media coverage of mass murders has turned the perpetrators into legends. Their names and photos are all over the various media outlets. This fame is exactly what these individuals want. It also inspires copy cats and others to try to one up the last mass murder to be the worst in history. The media themselves try to one up each other with "exclusive" information about these murderers completely ignoring the effect on the victims or their families.. Take away the fame for these people and you take away at least part of their motivation. Ban the media from releasing pictures or their names and you help the victims and their families heal.
