Stop unsolicited advertising distributed through the Postal Service

Created by S.M. on October 08, 2011

Junk mail is not only irritating and intrusive, it is ineffective, wastes enormous amounts of paper, and it is our tax dollars that support it. J. Levitz reported in the Wall Street Journal on 10-6-11 that advertising mail accounts for 48% of all mail. Why are we paying for someone to deliver unwanted junk mail to our homes, where we proceed to immediately throw it in our recycling bins? That is a ridiculous system that wastes trees and our hard-earned money.

The Postal Service loves junk mail as it provides for a significant portion of jobs. However, when computer chips started being placed in cars, we did not stop that progress because many mechanics could not keep their jobs.

Knowledge and progress require change and it is our responsibility to change for the better.
