Stop unsolicited credit checks or prevent credit bureaus from counting unsolicited credit checks against credit scores.

Created by M.L. on May 07, 2013

Unsolicited credit checks by finance companies negatively impact individuals' credit scores, which can result in higher interest rates or denial of consumer loans. We feel this is unfair to families and individuals who are carefully trying to manage their credit.

We propose that the federal government should enact legislation that would either make it illegal for organizations to perform credit checks without the consumer's consent, or to prevent the credit bureaus from counting these unsolicited credit checks against the individual's credit score.
